Land's End, Cornwall

Land's End is obviously famous for being the end of the UK. It is also a place of magnificent beauty, rugged coastline and magical history. Unfortunately, it has also been developed into a theme park, but it is a theme park where history can be learned and even experienced.

Land's End is the most Westerly point of the British mainland and is the closet part to North America. It is a magnificant feeling to stand on the cliffs and look out across the Atlantic Ocean knowing that you are at the end of the country. The granite cliffs are a superb site and it is easy to imagine misguided ships being smashed on the rocks below. On a clear day (which doesn't happen very often!), the Isles of Scilly are visible on the horizon.

It is also home to much wildlife, both flowers and animals. Seals and occasionally dolphins can be seen off the coast in this area.
