Chapel Street, Penzance

Chapel Street has a mixture of commercial and residential buildings many of which are very old and interesting.

The Turk's Head is the oldest pub in Penzance. There has been an inn on the site since the 13th century.

The Admiral Benbow pub has a model of a smuggler holding a gun on its roof. Originally this building was a cottage and the conversion to a public house occurred recently in the mid 20th century.

The Egyptian House was built in 1835 and has the most wonderfully exotic facade.

Number 9 Chapel Street used to house the first Post Office long before the introduction of stamps. It is a 19th Century building that now houses a china shop.

The Old Custom House is a lovely Grade II listed building. It has an interior that retains mainly original 18th Century features.

The Weslyan Chapel dates from 1814 with extensions dating from 1864.
